The Underground Adventure
Imagine. Create. Share.
Since 2008, the Kids4Kids My Story Creation annual story writing and illustration competition has provided primary students across Hong Kong with a creative platform that enables the budding writers and artists to imagine, create and share their stories.
This story was written and illustrated by kid(s) who participated in the Kids4Kids annual 'My Story Creation competition'. We hope to celebrate all the kids who used their creativity and imagination to create a story by giving them an opportunity to custom print their story, and be able to share and inspire other kids to create their own story.
Proceeds from the sale of this custom print story will help fund the Literacy Development Programmes at Kids4Kids to provide creative learning opportunities to low resourced communities in Hong Kong. By buying a Kids4Kids custom print story, you are not only applauding the future artists & authors of Hong Kong but you are also making a difference in a child’s life!

Max was a regular boy living in a regular village which was, he thought, too noisy. Therefore, he went to the countryside to take a rest.

It started to rain when he was deep into the forest. Hiding from the rain, he found a hole with a few steps leading to a garden with a big house.

Max thought, “Who lives in such a place?”

The house felt very creepy. Then, without warning, a wall collapsed and exposed a tunnel leading downwards.

He was frightened, but his curiosity got the better of him. So he entered.
The tunnel led to a hall.

He was totally shock when he saw skeletons lying on the floor - so many that he could not count.

As he surveyed the place, he found scribbling on the wall, filled with anger and lament about a troop of Goodies warriors being tricked and trapped by the Baddies.

The entire fighting force of the Goodies was wiped out in one go - not in battle but through cheating.

The Goodies were in the hall to find the hidden treasure under one of the blocks paving the hall. But it could only be opened by stepping on the blocks in the correct order.

The treasure was a pot of gold coins with the magic power to redeem the land that Goodies were living on. But no one knew the correct order in which the blocks had to be stepped on.

The Goodies tried endlessly but could not solve the puzzle, until they all died in the hall.

Max felt sad about them and wanted to help. How could he know the code?
So he returned home and tried to find someone to help. No one knew what he was talking about.

One day, a visitor came and asked to stay in Max's house for the night.

Max served him a good meal and gave him his room.

At dawn, the visitor bid farewell and left. When Max was tidying up the room, he found a bag of gold on the bed. He rushed out and found the visitor resting and waiting for him on the roadside.

As Max handed the bag of gold to him, he smiled and said, “You are the ONE”.
He was from the Goodies.

Now he was confident to disclose the code to Max, trusting that he would not keep the gold coins to himself. Max went to the hall again.

He stepped on the blocks in the correct order and retrieved the pot of gold coins, which he gave all to the visitor.

Then Max returned to his regular life - not for long.

After a few months, the visitor returned. He asked Max to go with him to the Goodies land.

They had reclaimed the land and, to Max's surprise, elected Max to be their leader.

Max hesitated but eventually accepted the offer and went to live with the Goodies.

What he enjoyed most was the quietness.
