Winter wishes Debra Wan Ching Ko

Winter wishes
Imagine. Create. Share.
Since 2008, the Kids4Kids My Story Creation annual story writing and illustration competition has provided primary students across Hong Kong with a creative platform that enables the budding writers and artists to imagine, create and share their stories.
This story was written and illustrated by kid(s) who participated in the Kids4Kids annual 'My Story Creation competition'. We hope to celebrate all the kids who used their creativity and imagination to create a story by giving them an opportunity to custom print their story, and be able to share and inspire other kids to create their own story.
Proceeds from the sale of this custom print story will help fund the Literacy Development Programmes at Kids4Kids to provide creative learning opportunities to low resourced communities in Hong Kong. By buying a Kids4Kids custom print story, you are not only applauding the future artists & authors of Hong Kong but you are also making a difference in a child’s life!

It was summer in the city. Bob and his family lived in an old small house close to the country-side. Bob's dad said: “This house is too small, let's go to the country to look for a bigger house.” “Come on, let's do it! We need to hurry, it is almost winter,” said Bob.

Bob grabbed his dog Snowy, dad grabbed his flashlight, his sister Betty grabbed a piece of string and off they went.

They found a big piece of land in the forest and they decided they wanted to build a house there. Bob chopped down a tree, Dad cut the wood and Betty made a table. They worked all through the night and used dad's flashlight to see. They weren't scared at all. After 5 days they could move into their house.

Winter came quickly. It snowed a lot and it was very cold. They really liked their new house. Bob built a snowman, he had a carrot nose, stone eyes and Dads old hat. Betty's table had a fire-pit in the middle, it made the house warm and cozy. They were very happy in their new house.

After dinner, Bob closed the big screen door and he didn't see that something fell from the sky. A genie that lived in the clouds dropped his bottle. It was a blue bottle, as big as his head and inside there was something magical.

Bob was curious and picked up the bottle...

Slowly he opened the bottle. “BOOM!” the fairy jumped out. Bob was shocked to see a fairy outside his house. Luckily the genie had magic powers and could fly down to the earth to save the fairy. But, the fairy princess did not like the genie because he kept her in a bottle for many years, so she jumped and hid behind Bob. “What do you want?” she said to the genie.

The genie tried to grab the fairy but Bob tripped him. The genie fell into the bottle. “Bob, you have three wishes,” laughed the fairy.

Bobs first wish was: “I wish the snowman would come alive.”
Bobs second wish was: “I wish that for every season, I will have someone to play with. For spring it should be a girl, for summer a boy, a girl for autumn and for winter a boy.
Bobs third wish was: “I wish that I had three wishes every day.”
“Your wishes are granted” said the fairy

The fairy said:
“May all your wishes come true.
It's time for us to leave this place.
Oh! Don't be blue.
And make a funny face.”
