A Strange Encounter Shreya Kochar

A Strange Encounter
Imagine. Create. Share.
Since 2008, the Kids4Kids My Story Creation annual story writing and illustration competition has provided primary students across Hong Kong with a creative platform that enables the budding writers and artists to imagine, create and share their stories.
This story was written and illustrated by kid(s) who participated in the Kids4Kids annual 'My Story Creation competition'. We hope to celebrate all the kids who used their creativity and imagination to create a story by giving them an opportunity to custom print their story, and be able to share and inspire other kids to create their own story.
Proceeds from the sale of this custom print story will help fund the Literacy Development Programmes at Kids4Kids to provide creative learning opportunities to low resourced communities in Hong Kong. By buying a Kids4Kids custom print story, you are not only applauding the future artists & authors of Hong Kong but you are also making a difference in a child’s life!

Diiinnnngggggggg! The school bell rang. Everybody jumped up and threw their books in the air. I can't believe the time is finally here! I quickly packed up my things. My parents picked me up and I was finally off to sleep away camp.

“Ok everybody, gather around, we are going to play a name game,” our camp leader said excitedly. By the time we finished, it started getting dark. Our camp leader took all of us to our tents to unpack. Then we had dinner, and went to bed.

I woke up in the middle of the night and heard a weird noise coming from the forest. I got out of the tent and walked towards the sound. I walked deeper into the forest and the noise got louder. I could see a bright green light gleaming.

I felt nervous and scared as I walked closer to the bright light. Then I saw a strange green creature making crying sounds. It looked like an alien. All of a sudden the alien turned his head, so I hid behind the tree. “Could he have seen me?” I thought.

I peeked out from behind the tree, and there it was. He was standing right in front of me and I was looking right at him. He was bald, green and his head was oval. He had strange hands and feet and looked like someone from outer space!

The Alien kept on staring at me and I at him. I had so many questions. Where did it come from? Why is it here? What is it? Why is it green? His eyes looked watery as if he was crying. I spoke to him, but he said nothing.

Then it turned around and started walking and I followed him. “Should I go with him?” I thought. He looked so innocent and sweet. I followed him for about 10 minutes, then he finally stopped, and OMG, you will not believe what I saw. I saw a gigantic spaceship!

He motioned for me to follow him. He took me to the other side of the spaceship and I saw that a piece was missing. Luckily I had a flashlight. We looked around, then finally found the missing peace. The Alien fixed his spaceship and made a thanking gesture.

I knew it was time to say goodbye. The Alien hugged me and handed me a small blue stone as a gift. He took one last glance at me, then he was off. All of a sudden I felt very sad as if I had lost a dear friend.

I walked back to my tent and went to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, I felt a strange feeling. Was what I experienced last night a dream or did it actually happen?
