Fast Food Zombie Apocalypse
Imagine. Create. Share.
Since 2008, the Kids4Kids My Story Creation annual story writing and illustration competition has provided primary students across Hong Kong with a creative platform that enables the budding writers and artists to imagine, create and share their stories.
This story was written and illustrated by kid(s) who participated in the Kids4Kids annual 'My Story Creation competition'. We hope to celebrate all the kids who used their creativity and imagination to create a story by giving them an opportunity to custom print their story, and be able to share and inspire other kids to create their own story.
Proceeds from the sale of this custom print story will help fund the Literacy Development Programmes at Kids4Kids to provide creative learning opportunities to low resourced communities in Hong Kong. By buying a Kids4Kids custom print story, you are not only applauding the future artists & authors of Hong Kong but you are also making a difference in a child’s life!

“Come on, Daniel. Let's go to the new fast food shop!” Daniel's mom said hurriedly, “Everyone says their burgers are simply to die for!" They rushed into their car and made a beeline for the fast food shop. Long lines of people queued up for their orders to be taken.

“Can I get a burger, please?” Daniel requested. When the burger was ready, the smell of oil invaded his nostrils. Daniel saw grease seep out of his burger which made him shudder. He was about to advise his mom, but he was distracted by a woman lumbering towards them.

Her torso was bloated as she trudged across the room. Her teeth were rotting, falling to the floor. “Sugar…” she moaned, “Oil…” She was zombified! He looked around him in bewilderment and found out that all the people, including his mom, were zombified. They were dead set at his burger.

He grabbed his burger and took to his heels, not letting them take another bite. They chased him like piranhas. His teeth chattered and his heart nearly pounded out of his chest. Unfortunately, he ran into a dead end. “Oh no,” grumbled Daniel, “I need to keep this burger away from them.”

All at once, a man in a lab coat came running in with a basket full of spinach and some tomatoes. He hurled the vegetables at the zombified people which caused them to stop in their tracks to consume the food. “My hero!” Daniel cheered.

“Hi kid,” he replied, “I am a food nutritionist, but you can call me Captain Health. Can you help me with something?” “Sure!” answered Daniel. Captain Health passed Daniel a basket with a colourful array of vegetables. Daniel was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when he received the basket.

Captain Health instructed, “I need you to toss these at the zombified people and make a run for it. Got it?” Daniel replied ecstatically, “Got it!” Captain Health gave him a wink and flung a mini lab coat to him. Daniel grinned from ear to ear, feeling like a superhero.

He put on the lab coat and catapulted the vegetables towards the zombified people. He could not believe his eyes when all of them turned back into their own selves! Their limbs and torsos shrank. Their teeth grew back and turned white, using them to munch on the nutritious vegetables.

Daniel burst into tears of joy as he ran to his mom to hug her. “What happened?” she asked in confusion. “Mom, Captain Health and I saved the day!” Daniel chimed. “Thank goodness!” his mom hooted. “We have to eat healthy from now on,” Daniel advised, “I saw what you guys looked like!”

Daniel exclaimed, “Fast food is bad for our bodies and our teeth. It is so addicting too that makes us want to eat even more fast food!” Captain Health added, “You will never regret eating healthy either!” Daniel's mom was proud and decided that they would make a lifestyle change and promote healthy eating.
