The Future And The Past Kylie Kun

The Future And The Past
Imagine. Create. Share.
Since 2008, the Kids4Kids My Story Creation annual story writing and illustration competition has provided primary students across Hong Kong with a creative platform that enables the budding writers and artists to imagine, create and share their stories.
This story was written and illustrated by kid(s) who participated in the Kids4Kids annual 'My Story Creation competition'. We hope to celebrate all the kids who used their creativity and imagination to create a story by giving them an opportunity to custom print their story, and be able to share and inspire other kids to create their own story.
Proceeds from the sale of this custom print story will help fund the Literacy Development Programmes at Kids4Kids to provide creative learning opportunities to low resourced communities in Hong Kong. By buying a Kids4Kids custom print story, you are not only applauding the future artists & authors of Hong Kong but you are also making a difference in a child’s life!

Not long ago in a place called California, there lived two naughty siblings named Silvia and Simon. They were also known as the “Litter Children”. They had this nickname because they always littered. Their parents tried as hard as two hungry lions, but still they could not stop the kids.

Simon and Silvia littered everywhere, even sometimes when they were holding a rubbish bag. After they went on mountain bikes, their rubbish bags were empty! Their parents were unhappy about the kids' behavior. They always shouted at the siblings, but the children still littered.

An example of the worst thing that they did was during a wedding ceremony. On that day, they were picked as the flower children. They were supposed to throw petals, but instead of throwing petals, they threw papers all over the bride and groom! The couple was sad.

Sometime later, while the children were sleeping, a fairy flew into their room and woke them up. “Hi! I am Tiffany,” said the fairy. “I'm here to show you the past and the future.” The siblings were confused, but when they wanted to ask why, the little fairy waved her wand……

And whoosh! They were in the past. The kids looked around and saw many beautiful flowers. The children saw two toddlers throwing rubbish around. Simon soon noticed that they were actually the babies! The children didn't know that they already had the bad habit of littering when they were young.

Whoosh! This time they went thirty years further into the past where the children's parents were infants. The siblings saw many animals and good smelling flowers. “I prefer the big city instead of this dirty place,” said Silvia angrily.

Whooshie! Whoosh! Tiffany sent them a hundred years before their parents were born. Everywhere was green and full of bugs. The siblings shouted, “Tiffany! We hate this dirty and wild place!” Tiffany decided to take the kids to a place worse than the wild……

Puff! Puffie! Suddenly, there were tall and gigantic buildings again. The air in the big city was polluted. “This is what we wished for long ago!” said the naughty siblings. “Thank you, Tiffany!” Tiffany muttered quietly, “You will see, you will see.”

Puffie, puff, puff! Tiffany brought the kids further into the future. When they arrived, they saw a woman and a man. Tiffany told the children that the old people were the siblings. Then, Tiffany brought the kids to the beaches. The siblings realized that no one was allowed to swim.

“Twenty years later,” whispered Tiffany. Then……Puff! Everyone was skinny this time because there was not enough food for the people. “Take us back to the normal time,” said the children. “You are making us dizzy and sad, Tiffany!” So……

Brizz! The time was back to the present. “Whew! We are safe now!” said the children. Tiffany asked, “So……what did you see just now?” Simon answered, “We saw many plants and animals in the past and dumps in the future. So what?”

“I know the difference! Before, there was no pollution, but in the future, there is a lot of rubbish!” shouted Silvia. “So you understand. Will you stop littering and start recycling?” asked Tiffany. “We will,” answered the kids. So from then on, the ‘Litter Children' became the ‘Clean Children'.
