Jason went to Space
Imagine. Create. Share.
Since 2008, the Kids4Kids My Story Creation annual story writing and illustration competition has provided primary students across Hong Kong with a creative platform that enables the budding writers and artists to imagine, create and share their stories.

This story was written and illustrated by kid(s) who participated in the Kids4Kids annual 'My Story Creation competition'. We hope to celebrate all the kids who used their creativity and imagination to create a story by giving them an opportunity to custom print their story, and be able to share and inspire other kids to create their own story.

Proceeds from the sale of this custom print story will help fund the Literacy Development Programmes at Kids4Kids to provide creative learning opportunities to low resourced communities in Hong Kong. By buying a Kids4Kids custom print story, you are not only applauding the future artists & authors of Hong Kong but you are also making a difference in a child’s life!

Jason was a boy who liked daydreaming. Today, he dreamed that he went to Space. He walked around the galaxy.

When he got back from his daydream, he was already late for school again. He had to finish breakfast quickly. Yet, he still could not catch the bus.

When Jason was finally in school, he started to daydream again. He thought that he went on an adventure with his car.

He drove his Eco car around France, Japan, Italy and Germany.

When he got back from his daydream, he had missed six words on his spelling test. His teacher said, "Jason, you need to concentrate!”

People always told Jason to focus on his studies. When he heard other people say that, he felt frustrated, sad, depressed, stressed, miserable and irritated.
Jason's mom knew he wasn't stupid but he truly couldn't focus his mind so she brought him to a doctor.

Jason told the doctor that people always told him to be attentive.
Jason also talked about the stories he wrote and the pictures he painted. “Too many ideas came out from my head,” said Jason. He also showed his cool ideas for inventions and adventures to the doctor.

The doctor said, "Wow Jason, you are so cool and you are lucky! You have a very powerful brain. With that brain, you can do great things in your life."
To make use of your powerful brain, you need to take care of it," the doctor said.

“But how?" asked Jason. Jason liked the idea of having a powerful brain but he didn't know how to “take care of the brain”.

"Cutting down junk food is a good start."

"Don't worry, Jason. There are lots of people to help you,” said the doctor.

“Your parents can help you by keeping yummy healthy snacks at home, " said the doctor.

“You can help too, Jason. Lay out your clothes before bed, learn how to organize your homework and set up a timetable after school.”

“Make sure you can get enough sleep. Good sleep is good for your brain. Getting enough deep sleep helps the brain clear out waste products. Even naps can help boost your concentration. It also improves learning and problem-solving skills,” added the doctor.

“When you are at school, remember to ask your teacher for help when you need it. If you have a friend in the class, ask him discreetly. They can tap you on the shoulder once, or something else subtle, to help you refocus on the lesson.”

“You're not perfect – in fact, no one is! Maybe today in class you drifted off a few times, stopped paying attention completely or even fell asleep for most of it. It happens to everyone occasionally, so don't beat yourself up. Just tell yourself that tomorrow will be different. Keep trying.”

“And be sure to find time to use your imagination. It's awesome!" exclaimed the doctor.

Jason worked hard to follow the doctor's suggestions. He ate super healthy foods every day.

He tried to be tidy at home. At school, he asked his teacher for help.

Jason tried hard to pay attention, but occasionally he still heard people tell him to concentrate.

He improved day by day. Eventually, Jason got to school on time with his homework completed! And he got most of his spelling words right. He also wrote a really great story that day.

Although Jason was not perfect, he tried very hard to pay attention in class. He used his spare time to use his imagination. Now he could handle his school work and he made sure he had time to go to Space.
